Today saw the climax of the saga that was the Really Goode Job promotion by Murphy-Goode Winery. The candidate awarded the job of Wine Country Lifestyle Correspondent is none other than Hardy Wallace.
Readers of this blog will note that I picked Hardy as the best candidate back in May. I am very happy that M-G chose Hardy and look forward to seeing what he will offer. I strongly feel that they made the right decision.
While overall I feel that this was a successful promotion by M-G, it was not free of mistakes and they consequently found themselves in the line of fire from influential internet critics such as Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht of Diggnation. We discussed this at length on today’s New Wine Consumer.

Michael,
We’re pleased that Hardy is the one, too, although in getting to know several others who made it to the top 10, I’d have been pleased for them, too.
I guess we can agree that the storm in the molehill, to mix my metaphors was both exaggerated in the fans’ virulence and probably inconsequential to the end result of the resources M-G have spent on the campaign.
Back to Hardy as Wine County Correspondent. In that Hardy knows wine, lives in the country and is very good at corresponding (he’s been a frequent participant on the New Wine Consumer) he’s going to go far and wide and I’m sure get new people interested not only in M-G but in the world of wine in general.
Again, congrats to everyone who threw their hat into the ring, that already took a lot of guts and energy. You all rock!
