Ten candidates remain for A Really Goode Job

Ten candidates remain for A Really Goode Job

After a short hiatus, I’m back again with some comments on A Really Goode Job from Murphy-Goode Vineyards. From over 2000 video applicants, they’ve whittled the field down to ten possible candidates. I can’t imagine the difficulty this process posed. There were a lot of great candidates, and to reduce the number to ten must have been like… well… the American Idol Hollywood week. I am happy to say that most of my favorites are still in the running, including Mr. Dirty, Hardy Wallace.

It is interesting to see who they’ve chosen. It seems to be an even mix of wine folks and new media folks. Some of the final nominees are clearly professionals, who have been involved in other industries doing similar type work. The balance are either enthusiastic youngsters or experienced wine social media folks. I wonder who they will finally choose in the end.

Regardless of the outcome, i would say that this campaign has been a rousing success for Murphy-Goode. It has basically put them on the map of wine social media. They’ve planted their flag and claimed new territory. Some may say that MG has basically bought themselves some publicity with $60k. Well, duh! That’s how it works folks. Our jobs are to promote our businesses, regardless of the means. $60k seems like a small price to pay for the coverage they’ve earned in both the traditional press and new media.

Their biggest challenge now is that they may have been victims of their own success. The person they hire will have a colossal undertaking to maintain the buzz over the next six months. Can they do it? Maybe. There are a lot of doubters out there. Personally, I’m of the opinion that the most appropriate candidate for the job, may be the person who came up with the campaign idea in the first place.

So, what’s next? What will be the next trendy subject to talk about in wine social media. Who will come up with the idea? Will it be you?

One Response to “Top Ten Reasons why…”

  1. Wouldn’t you do just about anything to be a winery mouse and sit in on all the happenings in a few days from now?

Wonder what kind of initiation interview process they all must go through…

And I too wonder what the next social media buzz will be! In any case, I do NOT believe that the game is over for MG and trust that the WCLC (wine country lifestyle correspondent) will be entertaining us for a while to come!
