An acquaintance of mine, Nikitas Magel, has recently launched a new online wine magazine: Vinikitas.com. Nikitas and I both took the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Diploma course at Copia in Napa, California. He has a very interesting concept for the site, breaking it into five sections:
- Reviews of various wine tasting events, wines and their producers, and wine-centric establishments.
- Suggestions on purchasing, serving, drinking, handling, and storing wine, as well as pairing it with food.
- Essays that delve a bit more deeply into two major areas of the wine industry: business (the wine market) and production (viticulture and enology).
- News gleaned from leading sources in the US and the UK.
- Events in wine tasting being held in major metropolitan areas, with detailed highlights on those to be reviewed here.
The writing is creative and engaging, and the site is well laid-out. If you are interested in learning more about wines and the wine business, I encourage you to check it out.
