Yesterday was a great day. I took a trip to San Francisco for the 2008 Family Winemaker’s tasting. It was an opportunity for me to catch up with some old colleagues (not as in age, but as in I haven’t seen them in a while) and meet some folks in person I have been blogging and tweeting with. Tom Merle helped organize a little “barcamp“-like seminar at Greens Restaurant with a nice size group of about 40-50 people interested in how to leverage social media in the wine industry. Tim Elliott of Acan Media was the keynote speaker, giving a mini-overview of social media and wine. Afterward, we discussed different possible applications and heard from some of the experts (myself included) on how to get started and some things to keep in mind when launching a social media strategy. There were all levels of participants, from the very novice to the guru. All in all, it was a great meeting, and I hope that people got a lot out of it.
In case you missed it, Tim has a great social media resource page on his wiki.
